How it works
We introduce you, then we get out of the way.
Search your suburb — free
No account needed to look. Filter by service, pet type, dates and price. Every profile shows the real nightly rate, not a "from" price that grows at checkout.
Or post the sit and let them come to you
Two cats and a chook, 10 nights in August, $60 a night. Sitters nearby see it and reply. Posting is free and always will be.
Join, and the contact details unlock
$49 a year — free right now for founding members. You get phone numbers and emails, because you should be able to ring the person who'll have keys to your house.
Always do a meet-and-greet
Meet at your place with the pets there. Watch how the animal reacts. Hand over the vet's number, the meds, the quirks — in writing. We give you a checklist to work through.
Agree the price and pay them direct
Whatever you two settle on is what changes hands. No service fee added on top, no platform holding your money.
Leave a review — and they'll leave you one
Reviews run both ways, and anyone reviewed gets a right of reply. It keeps everybody honest, including us.
Build a profile that sounds like you
Your experience, the animals you're good with, whether you'll do meds or reactive dogs. The sitters who get booked are the ones who read like a real person, not a listing.
Set your own rates — nobody nudges you down
No algorithm quietly ranking you below whoever charges least. Per night, per visit, per walk, or free-exchange house sits if you're travelling.
See the whole job before you say yes
Dates, pets, location, meds, what's actually expected. No accepting a booking then discovering there are four dogs and a horse.
Keep 100% of what you charge
A 20% commission on 40 nights at $65 is $520 a year gone. Here it's $49, flat, and the rest is yours.
Get paid on the day, your way
Bank transfer, cash, whatever you agree. No two-week payout hold, no withdrawal fee, no balance sitting in someone else's account.
Reviews you can answer
If an owner leaves something unfair, you get a public right of reply. And you review owners too — the difficult ones stop being a secret.
What we are, plainly
PetSit Mates is a noticeboard. We introduce pet owners and sitters and charge a flat membership for the introduction. We are not an agency, we don't employ sitters, we don't handle your money, and we don't insure the sit.
That's true of most pet sitting sites — the difference is we say it out loud, and we don't charge you a commission for the privilege. In exchange we ask you to do the sensible things: meet first, put the details in writing, and check that whoever's minding your animal is up to it.
